Using Social Media for Social Good

These days, social media is unavoidable. It's one of the most powerful tools in existence today, with the average person spending 135 minutes on it every day... Can you believe that? That's over 2 hours per day! 

With all this time and energy spent online, the important question to ask yourself is: are you using it for GOOD, or are you simply scrolling your time away?

Every interaction is an opportunity to brighten someone's day, INCLUDING interactions on the internet. 

If you're looking for ways to improve your social media habits, both for your own sanity and for the sake of those around you, here are a few ways to help: 

UNAPOLOGETICALLY UNFOLLOW.

Bad vibes beget bad vibes. If you find their internet presence bringing you down in ANY way, it's not worth your time and attention - unfriend & unfollow and don't look back! On Facebook, you can also choose to "unfollow" somebody if you don't want to outright unfriend them. 

COMMENT COMPLIMENTS.

Don't be shy... Throw kind comments around like confetti! Tell people how awesome they are! BE THERE for them. Have genuine conversations and connections as often as possible. And remember, if you don't have anything nice to comment, don't comment anything at all. 

POST THE POSITIVE.

There's enough negativity on the internet already. Use your posts to uplift your friends and followers. Maybe it's a funny video, a link to an uplifting article...maybe it's just letting people know you're there for them if they're going through a hard time. #GoodVibesOnly
